Software Engineer III The Jackson Laboratory has a position available for a Software Engineer III, reporting to the Manager of Applications Development in the Laboratory's IT department. The successful candidate will have significant application programming experience and will develop applications to meet the dynamic needs of various groups at the Lab. The candidate will be required to work with multiple languages and technologies and may need to learn new technologies as new challenges are presented. The position will focus in two areas: data warehouse development and web application development. The candidate must have an understanding of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts, such as the ETL development process, star and snow flake schemas, OLAP Cubes and database design principles. For web application development, the candidate will have experience with technologies such as .NET, Java, Perl, AJAX, JavaScript, and Web Application Frameworks. Other highly desirable skills include: familiarity or experience with ERP systems namely Microsoft Dynamic AX and/or Lawson; familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio, C/C++; Java Enterprise Development. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a software development team. The candidate will interact with business personnel, other software engineers and systems analysts to develop specifications for solutions that will ultimately be implemented by the candidate or other software engineers. The successful candidate will be detail- oriented, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and be experienced with software development life cycle processes that include formal documentation, testing, and software configuration management. The successful candidate will have a minimum of a BS degree in computer science or a related technical degree and at least five years of work experience in the technologies described above.
