The goal of this project is to integrate the Vuzix Augmented Reality SDK with the production VR environments used by the Virtual Environment and Multimodal Interaction lab. Vuzix (www.vuzix.com) produces augmented reality hardware that makes data available via an SDK with C++ and C# interfaces, but the VEMI lab uses the Python-based Vizard (www.worldviz.com) and Panda3D (www.panda3d.org) environments for experimental design and simulation production. This position requires producing a Python wrapper for the classes and functions available in Vuzix's C++ SDK, including providing access to AR camera feeds, sensor data, and recognition of fiducial markers using the ALVAR marker library. Once complete, the programmer will also produce compete documentation for the wrapper and demo code for using the wrapper in Panda3D and Vizard. The programmer should also provide clear documentation for updating the wrapper to support new SDK releases if possible. Contact: Nicholas A.
